Fiction by The xx

The_xx_-_Coexist[1]Arsty black and white video with no narrative. Why do they even bother?

This slow sultry song is from London based band, The xx. This is off their second album, Coexist.

Their music has been used many times in TV and movies. They have an interesting dream-pop sound which they never stray far from. They’re currently working on their third studio album.

Pulp Song by stellastarr*

Fan made video with stills of the band.

stellastarr* mimic Pulp with this aptly titled song . You can easily slip this into a Pulp medley, and not many people would notice that it’s not them. This is off their debut self-titled album.

This New York band have released 3 ablums and 1 EP. Even though they never quite lose that Pulp sound, they are a slightly meaner version of the group, and that’s why they’re my new favourite sound.

Hope There’s Someone by Antony and the Johnsons

Standard

Live concert video from Sweden.

English singer Antony Hegarty with his band Antony and the Johnsons, emotes this spine-tingling song, stopping in mid-song due to overwhelming emotions. This sad tune actually makes me happy. It’s off their second album, I Am a Bird Now.

This Baroque pop band released their first album in 2000, and have since released 6 albums (2 of them live) and many EPs. Led by transgendered lead singer Antony Hegarty’s distinct voice, this band is most strong when the music is simple and not overproduced. I’m sure they’d be best heard live, so if they’re in your town, go see them.
