The Kids Are Sick Again by Maximo Park

Standard

A stylized band video.

I’ll always have a place in my heart for Scottish accents, and Maximo Park does not disappoint. A driving bass-line is the, er… base of this ditty. This is off their album, Quicken The Heart.

This band from the across the sea have released 4 albums with their latest in 2012. They’ve got a great indie rock sound, with a bit of a Franz Ferdinand vibe, and it’s no wonder since Franz Ferdinand was formed in Glasgow, Scotland.

Too Long Awake by Idlewild

Standard

Here’s a fan-made video. Someone spliced together images from the movie German movie Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire).

Idlewild weave a nice Shoegaze vibe with this song. It’s a bit of a departure from their normal indie-rock style. This is off their 5th studio album, Warnings/Promises.

This Scottish band have released 7th  studio albums hitherto, with their latest in 2009. They’ve just cancelled their US tour due to injury and one can’t help but wonder, whether this is it for the band, considering they’re currently on a writing hiatus.

It’s Thunder and It’s Lightning by We Were Promised Jetpacks

Standard

No video this song, so just close your eyes, and pretend you’re on a road trip with Sean Connery.

With a great band name, We Were Promised Jetpacks play out this single from their first and only studio album, These Four Walls. They’ve also released one EP early this year, so they’re relatively new to the scene. I’m hoping for big things from this quartet.

They’re from Glasgow, in case you couldn’t place their accent. And if you’re ever see the band live remember to give them a Glasgow handshake to make them feel right at home.
